The first polaroid was sold in the 50's. A lot of people associate polaroid pictures with their childhood, as it was a very easy way to take photos and create memories. Then, in 1972, the SX-70 was introduced and revolutionized photography by offering the public a true SLR that folds flat and produces photographs instantly. However, in the following years, Polaroid struggled to remain relevant and not long ago, in 2006, decided to stop the production of cameras and discontinued SX-70 films, among others.
Now that the polaroid has attained an exceptional status, due to its unusual rarity and expensiveness, it has become a true vintage icon that one must own. As far as I'm concerned, I started to take polaroid photos without any real aim, but with a sole purpose: I use it like a diary. Not necessarily everyday, but when I feel something is worth remembering.
